A FASSNACHT Family Record Compiled for the descendants of David H. and Susan (Snader) Fassnacht AN INTRODUCTION In 1976 the first edition of this history was compiled and distributed. Randy Fasnacht laboriously collected and typed the Register contents, while Christine Fassnacht (now Alden) toiled away on a Selectric typewriter to turn out Carroll Fassnacht's contribution, The History (predecessor to The Background in this electronic issue).
Sue and Ken Martin took over the printing of the second (1986) edition and have been keeping the Register updated with their computer, in spite of the periodic glitches and crashes seemingly so characteristic of these cantankerous, yet indispensable, electronic demons. Then in May of 1993, at a monthly meeting of 7th generation cousins, during a conversation with Sue Martin, Carroll Fassnacht found he had volunteered to take over responsibility for the latest printed edition. Though time-consuming, putting it all together was most enjoyable, a pastime he can recommend to any retiree. Now we've produced this electronic edition for the World Wide Web, so it can be easily viewed by anyone with a Web-connected PC (or from their local library) and continually updated.
Because of the many Fassnacht families in the nation today, we have made no attempt here to cover more than the three-hundred-plus descendants of David H. and Susan (Snader) Fassnacht. To do so would require resources and expertise beyond our limited means. We are most interested, however, in hearing from any persons of Fassnacht lineage, anywhere, and are always ready and eager to share information from our files compiled over the past 55 years. E-mail any contributions to Wes Fasnacht at WES@THEFASNACHTS.COM.
And finally, a most heartfelt thanks to the many relatives who have so generously cooperated in making all past and present editions possible.
