Operated his own businesses in the Reading, Pennsylvania area before moving to Florida in 1968, where for the next five years, on weekends and vacations, he enjoyed sailing his sloop "Circe" in the waters of South Florida, the Keys, the Gulf of Mexico, and Bimini. Before retiring in 1986, he was employed for 17 years as an accountant for the Deltona Corporation of Miami. Married Betty Jane Shaeffer in 1942 in Elkton, Maryland. Betty was born September 20, 1923 in Manheim, Pa., and graduated from Reading Senior H.S. in 1941. Before retiring in 1986, she was employed in the Accounting Department of Edward J. Gerrits Corporation, Miami. Betty's primary hobby was painting in oils. She died October 8, 2003. For pastime Carroll reads, occasionally tours, explores the intricacies of the computer, does some photographing, and savors retirement in general.press technician at the Salt Lake City plant of Deluxe Corporation. Chris and John spend much of their spare time exploring and photographing the mountains, canyons, State and National parks of Utah and surrounding states, using their 28-foot camping trailer as a base._1.
